Problems Regarding Technical Support of Ozone Therapy

 

Many physicians using ozone therapy experience some problems with their ozone generators. The practice has shown that most of the available ozone generators for medical use:

  1. have insufficient accuracy in maintaining the chosen ozone concentration (worse than 25-70% as a rule).

  2. have insufficient durability of the ozonization chamber and already after 100 hours of operation indicate significant variations between the display reading and the actually delivered ozone concentration that is unacceptable, particularly for parenteral ozone therapy. This problem was many times discussed by medical scientists worldwide.

  3. have a narrow adjustable range of ozone concentrations and are unreliable within the medium and low range of ozone concentrations that makes impossible to use most of the methods offered by the Russian technology of ozone therapy.

  4. do not allow a physician using medical ozone as a drug in precise dosages according to the generally accepted directions for use like any common pharmaceutical product.

 

Some manufacturers of medical ozone generators intentionally or unintentionally distribute a misconception regarding technical characteristics of their equipment and:

  1. do not indicate durability of the ozonization chamber (this is the most important parameter and at the same time the most "weak" point of ozone generator);

  2. do not guarantee (i.e. do not indicate in the technical specification) accuracy in maintaining the chosen ozone concentration;

  3. do not test the ozone generator before shipping and use built-in ozone concentration measurers which are not tested for accuracy.

 

We are sorry to accept the fact that most of the available medical ozone generators do not satisfy the actual requirements for dosage accuracy and safety of treatment and therefore can be hardly suitable for medical use.

 

This might be one of the obstacles for wide spreading of ozone therapy worldwide. The only way out of this difficult situation is to design and produce medical ozone generators based on the new technical principles.

 

Medical Ozone Generator Requirements

 

We are convinced that the up-to-date medical ozone generator should comply with the following important requirements:

  1. It should produce ozone within the wide range of concentrations.

  2. It should be capable of precise regulation of ozone outputs within the available range of concentrations at the least possible step.

  3. It should have high accuracy in maintaining the chosen ozone concentration within the available range of concentrations; it should be tested by the manufacturer for accuracy in maintaining the chosen ozone concentration; the attested accuracy should not decrease within the life-time of ozone generator.

  4. It should have an automated stabilization system of the chosen ozone/oxygen flow-rate; it should be tested by the manufacturer for accuracy in maintaining the chosen ozone/oxygen flow-rate.

  5. It should ensure a strictly dose-related ozone therapy.

  6. It should have great operation resource (durability) of the ozonization chamber (not less than 2000 hours of continuous operation).

  7. It should have a completely automated operation system incl. automatically blocking in case of any wrong actions of the user.

  8. It should deliver pure (contaminant-free) medical ozone (guaranteed by the manufacturer).

  9. It should come with good medical and technical support.

In fact, our aim was to design and manufacture the New-Generation of medical ozone machines in compliance with the actual requirements for efficiency and safety of treatment.

 

The New Production Conception for Medical Ozone Generators

 

What does a medical ozone generator of Medozons series represent? What does make it different from the traditional units that allows us speaking about the New-Generation of medical ozone machines?

 

This is a generator of medical ozone within the widely adjustable concentration range delivered at the chosen flow-rate automatically maintained.

 

In contrast to the traditional units our machine has a revolutionary new principle of ozone generation - impulse barrier discharge based on the unique construction of the ozonization chamber and the completely automated operating system based on the incorporated microprocessor Intel that ensures high accuracy in setting and maintaining the chosen ozone concentration independently from the O2 flow-rate and allows delivering ozone as a "drug" in precise dosages (9950 different ozone concentrations at a step of 1 mcg/L), each machine is tested for accuracy in setting and maintaining the chosen ozone concentration and the attested accuracy of +/-5% is guaranteed for at least 2000 hrs of continuous operation (control of total operation time through a built-in hours meter) = about 5 years of usage before the scheduled prophylactic service that is recommendable, but not obligatory as our machine can safely and maintenance-free work for at least up to 5000 hrs of continuous operation.

 

Its functional principle is based on the electric synthesis of ozone from oxygen in unbalanced low-temperature plasma of impulse barrier discharge of microsecond duration by automatic pre-ionization. From the power supply source the electrodes of the ozonization chamber receive packets of short impulses of alternating polarity within the megacycle range characterized by high-stable electric and time parameters. The construction of the ozonization chamber ensures preliminary automatic ionization of discharge interval that is responsible for high accuracy and stability of energy supply by each impulse. And the gas tract of the ozone generator is constructed so that the oxygen flow delivered to the ozonization chamber is automatically stabilized at the chosen flow-rate level. Adjustment of ozone concentration occurs by changing sequence frequency and number of impulses in the packet. Delivery permanence and stability of impulse energy supply ensure high accuracy in maintaining the chosen ozone concentration and a wide range of delivered ozone concentrations.

 

So, the totality of technical features makes it possible to design and produce up-to-date medical ozone generators for safe and effective ozone therapy (mainly by generating pure medical ozone and dosing it exactly).

 

Parameters of Medical Ozone Generators of Medozons Series

 

The Medozons series includes 3 models of medical ozone generators:

  1. The MEDOZONS-BM (basic model) manufactured since 1999

  2. The MEDOZONS-BM-01 (upgraded modification with a built-in ozone-resistant vacuum pump) manufactured since 2000

  3. The MEDOZONS-BM-02 (upgraded modification with a built-in low-flow multi-injectory unit designed specifically for cosmetic purposes) manufactured since 2005

 

The both modifications have the same housing and technical data as the basic model, but an additional functional option: a built-in ozone-resistant vacuum pump available in the MEDOZONS-BM-01 or a built-in low-flow multi-injectory unit available in the MEDOZONS-BM-02 that makes them different from the basic model.

This parameter (1 : 9950) means that the doctor using our machine can adjust and receive 9950 different ozone concentrations at accuracy of +/- 10%. Most of the Western ozone generators for medical use have an adjustable range not higher than 1 : 100.

In fact, the actual accuracy in maintaining the chosen ozone concentration within the available range is not worse than +/- 5%. Each unit is tested for conformity of the adjusted value of ozone concentration to the actually delivered one, and the attested accuracy in maintaining the adjusted ozone concentration is guaranteed for the life-time of ozone generator - not less than 8 years.

To improve dosage accuracy the chosen ozone-oxygen flow-rate is automatically stabilized and strictly maintained by the automatic system of ozone generator. Each unit is tested for conformity of the chosen ozone/oxygen flow-rate to the actual one.

In fact, the actual operation resource of the ozonization chamber is not less than 5000 hours that allows using the unit without failures for approx. 8 years without any decrease in ozone concentration accuracy.
